Approaching December ....

So here we are hurtling towards Christmas once again! As always, there’s lots of associated planning and organizing to get sorted, but lots of fun things to anticipate too.

Art wise, I’ve had such an enjoyable year, with painting becoming an increasingly important part of my practice. I have really enjoyed exhibiting some of these works with fellow artists @zelhunt_uk and @sue_bridge, and also with the Studio 16 group. I haven’t abandoned other media though, with glass and sculpture both featuring heavily in the exhibitions with Zel and Sue. Plus in March to May I had a sculpture in the Spring Group Show @fstoneartgallery, June/July saw some of my glass in the Sumptuous Summer exhibition in Southwold’s Buckenham Galleries, and in October/November I had both sculpture and glass in the Autumn Show in @lilfordgalleryandframing. This was a really lovely show in the quirky but delightful gallery in Castle Street in Canterbury. It really is a hidden gem, so if you haven’t discovered it yet, do seek it out if ever you are nearby.

And I’m not quite done for the year yet. My large free-standing glass piece ‘Into The Light II’ will be appearing in Deal as part of the Winter Group Show @linden_hall-studio, opening on Saturday 2nd December. Another Winter Group Show will be happening in Folkestone @fstoneartgallery, and I will be delivering my wall hung ‘Tempus Fugit (Mid Afternoon)’ there soon, ready for the launch on 7th December. (See the Exhibitions page for more details, but do check the gallery websites for more opening times information).

After all the fun of exhibiting, I’m now looking forward to getting back into my workshop and studio and spending time exploring some of the ideas that have been flitting around in my head over the last few months. What will come from them, as yet I cannot say. There will undoubtedly be moments of creative frustration and angst ahead, but also of excitement and - hopefully! -joy. I love my life as an artist!
