A New Kiln
I was very pleased to have sold 'The Beginning Of The End' - the piece I created to show in the Winter Group Show at Linden Hall Studio. Apparently it was purchased at the Private View, so I really couldn't have asked for a bigger vote of confidence than that.
And - how lucky am I? I got a new kiln just before Christmas. It's twice the size of my old one, so I'm able to create considerably bigger pieces of work. Of course, a new kiln takes some getting used to, and there have been a few unexpected occurrences! But I've been practising, and am gradually getting used to it's idiosyncrasies. Here's a piece sitting in the kiln, waiting for the firing schedule to be programmed in. Fingers crossed it turns out alright!
I have two exhibitions planned for later in the year, so the kiln will be getting a lot of use during the coming months. I've just embarked on a series of new works in response to a poem that has intrigued me for many years. I don't want to jinx things so I won't say too much about it at the moment, but if things go to plan, I'll post some the resulting images in a while.
